Terms of Use
1. What this app is
Explore China Like a Local is an editorial travel guide for international visitors in mainland China: verified entry guidance, neighbourhood places, realistic price ranges, step-by-step tutorials for Chinese apps, and trip planning. Content is editorial recommendation based on evidence available at the stated check date — not live official data.
2. Verify before you act
Entry rules, visa exemptions, opening hours, prices, and app interfaces change. Every dynamic fact shows its source and the date last checked, with a link to verify yourself. You must verify entry requirements with the official source before travelling. We are not liable for travel disrupted by acting on stale information.
3. Acceptable use
- No scraping or bulk harvesting of the content catalogue or API.
- No reselling tickets, inventory, or our content as your own.
- No uploading credentials, payment data, or another person's documents to screenshot help — server-side redaction will reject them.
- No prompt-injection or abuse of the AI assistant; OCR text is treated as data, not instructions.
4. Subscriptions (Travel Pass)
The Travel Pass is sold exclusively through Apple's In-App Purchase. Pricing and free-trial terms (if offered) are shown by the App Store at purchase in your local currency. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, via your device Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Restore purchases from Me → See Travel Pass → Restore purchases. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. We validate receipts server-side against the App Store Server API; fraudulent receipts terminate the entitlement without refund from us.
5. Intellectual property
All editorial text, design, and illustrations we produce are ours or licensed to us. Tutorial screenshots of third-party apps (Alipay, WeChat Pay, Meituan, AMap, 12306) are shown for instructional purposes with outbound links — we rehost no third-party content. You may not copy, republish, or train models on our catalogue without written permission.
6. AI-generated content
Itineraries and assistant answers are generated from our verified catalogue and cite sources. AI-generated illustrations are labelled as such. We never present AI imagery as real photography of a place.
7. Account and termination
Guest mode needs no account. If you sign in with Apple, you may delete your account in-app (Me → Settings → Account → Delete account), which calls DELETE /users/me and removes personal data within 30 days. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service (scraping, fraud, injection attempts).
8. Disclaimers and liability
The app is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of accuracy, completeness, and fitness for a particular trip. Our aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Travel Pass in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you hold under mandatory consumer law.
9. Changes
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in-app with the revision date above. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
